Confidence Score
How we measure the reliability and accuracy of your personality assessment
Confidence Score
Not all personality test results are created equal. Some people answer thoughtfully; others rush through. Some questions reveal more than others.
The Confidence Score is EQVector's way of telling you: "How certain are we about these results?"
What Affects Confidence?
Our algorithm considers multiple factors to calculate your confidence percentage:
1. Consistency Patterns
Do your answers align with each other? If you claim to be highly introverted but also say you love big parties, something doesn't add up.
We track:
- Cross-question consistency: Do related questions get compatible answers?
- Opposite traps: If you answer A on one question, you should answer B on its inverse.
2. Response Time Analysis
Rushed answers often indicate guessing. We measure how long you spend on each question.
- ⚡ Too fast (~1-2 seconds): Possible random clicking
- ⏱️ Optimal (5-15 seconds): Thoughtful consideration
- 🐢 Very slow (60+ seconds): Potential overthinking/anxiety
Note: We don't penalize slow readers! We use relative timing, not absolute.
3. "Both" Answer Usage
Our test offers a "Both Apply" option (Option C) for questions where neither A nor B feels right.
Using this occasionally is fine—personality is nuanced. But overusing it (>20% of questions) suggests:
- Difficulty with self-assessment
- Fear of commitment to an answer
- Central tendency bias
Each "Both" answer reduces precision slightly.
4. Validation Questions
We include hidden trap questions throughout the test. These are:
- Rephrased versions of earlier questions
- Obvious "attention check" items
- Logically inconsistent scenarios
Missing these lowers your validation score.
How Confidence Is Displayed
| Score Range | Meaning | | ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- | | 85-100% | High confidence. Results are very reliable. | | 70-84% | Good confidence. Minor uncertainties on some dimensions. | | 50-69% | Moderate confidence. Consider retaking with more focus. | | Below 50% | Low confidence. Results may not represent you accurately. |
What to Do with Low Confidence
If your confidence score is lower than expected:
- Retake the test when you're less tired or distracted
- Be more decisive—trust your gut on A/B choices
- Take your time—but don't overthink
- Answer for your typical self, not who you want to be
Bias Detection
Beyond confidence, we also detect common response biases:
- Acquiescence Bias: Always picking the first option
- Fatigue Bias: Random answers increasing toward the end
- Social Desirability: Picking what sounds "better"
If detected, we'll warn you and adjust the confidence score accordingly.
